We know babies come on their own timeline. Sometimes earlier or later than expected and sometimes right on time. That’s why we’re on call for your baby’s birthday 24/7 from the time we are hired until your baby is born.

It’s extremely rare for both of us to be tied up at births, out of town, sick, or with our families. However, we have planned for those scenarios by teaming up with a few other doulas to be our back-ups. These doulas have similar training, experience, philosophies on birth, and personalities to us and we trust them to give parents amazing support on our behalf when needed.

We communicate with doctors, midwives, and nurses to help you gather information about their recommendations and the events unfolding medically with you and your baby. We also collaborate with them to determine what positions and other techniques may be most helpful to move you closer to meeting your baby. At no time will we make decisions about your medical care for you or your baby. 

Yes!! We support all birth scenarios and have been tremendous assets to many parents in these scenarios both when planned prior to labor beginning or when found to be medically necessary during labor. Our goal is for you to have all of the information you need to be part of the decision making process no matter the exact details of how your baby makes their way into the world. 

We begin virtual support as soon as you think labor has started. This may include texts and phone calls to provide lots of tips for staying comfortable and helping you decide when it’s time to head to your birth location. Once active labor has begun we will join you for in person support. That support will continue until your baby is born.
